Science

Vision

At Kader Academy, our vision for science education is to ignite a lifelong passion for discovery and exploration in every child. We believe that science is a gateway to understanding the world around us and that every student has the potential to be a scientist.

Curiosity and Inquiry:

We foster an environment where curiosity is celebrated and questions are encouraged. Our students develop their understanding by asking questions, investigating answers, and engaging in meaningful discussions.

Hands-on Experiences:

We prioritise hands-on, practical science experiences that bring learning to life. By conducting experiments, making observations, and analysing results, our students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.

Empowerment Through Knowledge:

Our students are equipped with a solid foundation in scientific principles, enabling them to apply their knowledge creatively and confidently. We inspire them to see themselves as capable scientists, ready to explore endless possibilities.

STEM for All:

We are committed to ensuring that every child recognises the potential for a future in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Through exposure to diverse scientific fields and role models, we demonstrate that a career in STEM is attainable for everyone.

Science Beyond the Classroom:

Throughout their time with us, our students will embark on exciting science school trips, further enriching their learning experiences. These trips offer invaluable opportunities to explore scientific concepts in different environments and contexts.

Engagement Beyond the Classroom:

Science learning extends beyond the classroom at [Your School Name]. We encourage students to share their scientific discoveries and enthusiasm with their families, sparking conversations and activities at home that reinforce their learning.

By nurturing a profound love of science, we aim to create a community of inquisitive, confident, and knowledgeable young scientists who are prepared to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. With self-belief and determination, we know that our students can achieve anything they set their minds to.

Intent

Kader Academy’s Science intent focuses on instilling a deep curiosity and passion for Science in pupils, ensuring that they develop a secure understanding of fundamental scientific concepts. The intent is rooted in providing a broad and balanced Science curriculum that not only covers the required content but also fosters critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a spirit of inquiry among pupils. Furthermore, the intent aims to inspire pupils to see the relevance of Science in the world around them and to nurture their interest in potential STEM-related careers.

Implementation

Kader Academy ensures that Science lessons are engaging, purposeful, and provide opportunities for pupils to develop scientific knowledge and skills progressively. Teachers utilise a range of teaching strategies, including practical investigations, scientific enquiry, and the use of real-life examples to bring Science concepts to life.

Furthermore, the school places a strong emphasis on developing pupils’ scientific vocabulary, encouraging them to communicate their understanding effectively. Teachers create a supportive learning environment where pupils feel confident to ask questions, make predictions, and explore scientific phenomena independently. Through differentiation and personalised learning approaches, all pupils are appropriately challenged and supported to achieve their full potential in Science.

Kader Academy also provides opportunities for pupils to apply their scientific knowledge outside the classroom, such as through Science clubs, STEM activities, and visits to science-related organisations. These experiences enrich pupils’ learning and help them see the practical applications of Science in the wider world.

Impact

The impact of our Science curriculum at Kader Academy is evident in the outcomes and experiences of pupils. It demonstrates that all pupils, regardless of background or starting point, have made significant progress in their scientific knowledge, skills, and understanding. Pupils are able to articulate their learning, ask questions, and demonstrate a genuine curiosity about the world around them. Pupils have high levels of attainment and progress across year groups, with pupils demonstrating a secure understanding of key scientific concepts and processes. Pupils are enthusiastic about science, actively participating in lessons, asking questions, and demonstrating a willingness to explore and experiment. Pupils have developed a range of practical and investigative skills, including observation, prediction, data collection and analysis, which they can apply across different contexts. Pupils are inspired to consider careers in science, showing an awareness of the opportunities available and the impact of science on society. Regular feedback from pupils and staff, indicating a positive impact of the Science curriculum on pupils’ learning experiences and overall development.
