Welcome to Year One!
Miss McGlynn, Mrs Donnely, Miss Irwin, Mrs Price, Mrs Wilkins and Miss Potter welcome you to Year 1.
Here you will be able to find out about what we are learning and the activities we have enjoyed doing.
As well as completing activities set by our teachers, we also enjoy working in the areas and learning through play.
We are starting the year with our Paws, Claws and Whiskers topic. The children will be learning all about animals: from pets to zoo animals. We have already had a fantastic visit from Pets at Home where the children got to handle rabbits, guinea pigs and gerbils. We had lots of fun!

We were very lucky to have a visit from Amera’s pet tortoise.

This term our topic is Memory Box. The children will be learning about how we grow and change from babies to adults. We will also explore the importance of memories and children will be making their own memory box in which they can keep their own special items. This topic will focus on history, science and art. We have recently visited Beamish Museum where the children have had a chance to find out about the past and what it was like in a Victorian School.
