SPAG homework due Friday 13th March
Page 16 (subordinating conjunctions). After looking at coordinating conjunctions last week, we would like children to focus on subordinating conjunctions. Success criteria at the top of the page. We have done lots of work on conjunctions and are now beginning to look at classifying these as either coordinating or subordinating conjunctions. We would like children to watch the following 2 Youtube videos before completing these tasks:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVV20vjui4k

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK2Gyto5gTQ

Similarly to last week, the first video is aimed at Y6 children but does an excellent job at explaining subordinating conjunctions! The second video is a funky song to aid with remembering this (hope you all like The Vengaboys!)

Maths homework due Friday 13th March

Page 14 (rounding and checking). We have spent lots of time working on using rounding to help check the validity of an answer. I have attached a few success criteria pictures to explain this more fully.

Comprehension task – 2 minute reads (Metamorphosis). We hope everyone is continuing to enjoy their work on fluency. We have once again sent a sheet home with children and explained the task. It is not a very time consuming task but we hope this new approach could make all the difference! The sheet itself has all the relevant information on it! We have now added a few quick comprehension questions to this task.

Plus weekly reading of home reading book (4 x per week minimum).

Children also have logins for Conquer Maths, Read Theory and ‘Times Table Rockstars’, which they are more than welcome to explore at home! We will continue to give out our weekly certificates for using Read Theory, Conquer Maths and Times Table Rockstars!

Many thanks for your continued support,

Y5 team
