We have been busy with lots of exciting activities in Year 5 this week! In English, we have been writing gruesome descriptions of Pestilence and learning about how similes and metaphors can make writing more powerful. In Maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of positive and negative numbers and place value in numbers up to millions, including comparing and ordering numbers. We have been observing bacteria growing in petri dishes in our classroom – yuck! We’ve looked at how it would have felt to have caught the plague and tracked the journey of the plague across Europe. We have continued to work hard to develop our reading fluency and have been further practising lots of different types of reading questions. Please have a look at some photos of our with our finished plague masks!
