Reassurance regarding the statutory RHSE Education Curriculum

Dear Parents

Reassurance regarding the statutory RHSE Education Curriculum

It has come to my attention that there is anxiety amongst some parents regarding the new RSHE curriculum . I would like to reassure you that there is nothing to be anxious about and that a lot of ‘scaremongering’ and ‘false information’ seems to be ‘doing the rounds’.

Initially the Government wanted this curriculum to be fully implemented from September 1st 2020. However, due to the current Covid -19 crisis it has been delayed until the summer 2021, but only after consultation with parents. This consultation will take place in April 2021. Please be assured that no changes to our curriculum have been made as yet.

All staff have received training on the Jigsaw scheme and the trainer will also be delivering this information to you in April.

For your own information, I have attached the link to the government guidance for both the Relationships and the primary science curriculum. Please note that there are statutory elements to both curriculums that are not open to negotiation and are a legal requirement for all schools in the country. However, all teaching will be age appropriate and taught sensitively and all content shared with you at the consultation in April.

We hope this will allay any fears.

Please do not hesitate to contact school if you need further clarification.

Kind Regards,
