Y6 Evacuation Visit

25/09/2019 9:00am to 2:50pm

Dear Parent,

Y6 Evacuation Visit

Wednesday 25th September 2019

As part of our work on WW2, your child will be learning about the evacuation of children from towns and cities. Therefore, we would like the children to come to school on the above date dressed up as wartime evacuees.

The children will be leaving school at 9.10am and returning at 2.50pm.

For the Evacuation Visit, we propose to take the children to a secret destination in North Yorkshire by coach where they will experience what it was like to be a child evacuated from Middlesbrough during the war.

Your child will have the next few weeks to decide on their outfit and make a suitcase (details of which will be sent home in due course). To add to the role-play experience, it would be fantastic if parents could wave the children off on their journey.

Your child will also need to bring:

  • A waterproof jacket
  • A packed lunch (no glass bottles please)
  • A small amount of spending money (£2)
  • A small suitcase (made from a shoebox, which will include small items personal to them i.e. photograph of their family, cuddly toy).

Although the school is subsidising the cost of the trip it is still necessary to ask parents for a contribution of £3 per child to help cover all the costs.

Please make this payment using the online payment system – schoolmoney. Inability to pay will not prevent your child from attending, however, in the event of insufficient funding the visit will have to be cancelled.

We would appreciate help from some parents during the visit, please indicate on the online consent form if you are able to attend.

Please register your consent below for your child to attend.

Yours sincerely,

Y6 Teachers
