***PLEASE SEE DATES BELOW FOR YOUR CHILD’S SESSION***
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
World Book Day is fast approaching and will take place on Thursday 7th March. This year, we have some lovely work planned for the children in the weeks preceding the celebration, but we thought we would take this opportunity to let you know how you could help.
This year, the children will be bringing home a sponsor sheet. The idea is that, as a school, we will cumulatively ‘collect’ as many reading minutes as we can during World Book Week. Children are then sponsored to read as much as they can within this time, recording down their minutes on a log. Reading can include anything from books, comics and magazines, to websites, recipes or TV guides – anything with words. This can also include being read to, as we would encourage you to read to as well as with your children. We are hoping to raise money to buy some lovely new books for the library.
‘Be A Book’ challenge
School will be providing each child with a T-shirt which they will be bringing home over the coming weeks. Instead of fancy-dress this year, we are asking that all children design a T-shirt based on their favourite book. We are hoping that the children will get as creative as possible in an attempt to show their friends just how fab their book is, and therefore encouraging them to read it too.
Join in the fun!
Throughout the school, our learning during book week will be centered around a lovely picture book. The children will be taking part in reading, writing, drama, maths, science and art activities and have many exciting things planned. We would love for you to join your child/ children during the week, at the following sessions, to share their learning with them:
